Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 1 PA/DE represents the finest hands in the business, building the Delaware Valley since 1865. As part of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, Local 1 is dedicated to improving the quality of life for its members both on and off the job. With over a century of protecting workers’ rights, it stands as the oldest continuous union in North America. Local 1 specializes in a variety of trades, including bricklaying, refractory and fire brick, stone and marble work, tile setting and finishing, and pointing, cleaning, and caulking. The union is committed to providing its members with higher wage rates, comprehensive benefits, safer work sites, and job security. Members of Local 1 have access to extensive training and apprenticeship opportunities through the Joint Training and Apprentice Center, which offers an accredited four-year apprentice program and various classes for professional development and safety certifications. Local 1 is proud of its contributions to major construction projects, such as the Barnes Museum and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, showcasing the skill and dedication of its members.
